This is exactly as painful as you'd imagine.

Had an interesting day, and there was something that I really wanted to write about (someone remind me to do a post about the 'tier system')...

But my number came up in the' injury lottery' today.

After lunch, as I was tightening the bale* on a light we were pulling off the shelf, I heard a 'pop'.

It took me a moment to realize that it came from my wrist.

ouchouchouch

The doctor popped it back in; but, of course, after I got home it popped back out. Also of course, as soon as I got home, I took the pain medication and now can't drive back to the hospital (it seems to be having little effect on the pain, but is very effectively screwing up my motor skills).

I don't want to call in a favor (for a ride) to sit in the ER for 5 hours. I just want to go to bed.

*I'll explain it later. Typing is excruciating.

I hope you were using the correct tool. Popping your wrist out of its socket suggest that maybe you might want to use a tool with more leverage. I hope you feel better soon. I enjoy your Blog.

Thanks everybody.. I'm feeling better tonight.

I actually wasn't using a tool - bales are tightened by hand, and I was leaning out of a lift to grab an old light, and just torqued the wrist wrong..

If you go to the flickr page (or mole.com) and look at any photo of a movie light, there will be a u shaped steel tube either above or below the light, and it will attach to each side of the light. This allows the light to sit in a stand or be hung - there's a knuckle on one side of the bale to tighten or loosen it..

This is why I post so many pictures - I suck at typing explanations for technical doo-hickeys.
